Papaya is a rich source of vitamin- A (2020 IU per 100 g) and vitamin-C (40 mg/l00g). It contains papain a protein digesting enzyme. Unripe fruits can be used as vegetable. Ripe fruits are used for making of Jam, Jelly, and Ice-Cream, etc. It is generally grown as fruit plant in kitchen garden, home garden or nutritional garden.
Pomegranate are very much liked for its cool, refreshing juice and valued for its medicinal properties. Its popularity is also due to the ornamental nature of the plant which bears bright red, very attractive flowers. Guava is a tropical and sub-tropical fruit tree which is also known as the “poor man’s apple” because of its popularity and medicinal properties. Guava’s are a good source of pectin, which is used for making good quality Jelly. They are also used fresh or after processing. Guava trees can also be grown as hedge plants, landscape trees and as ornamental potted Bonsai plants.
Sapota is an evergreen, tropical fruit tree. Fully mature fruits are delicious and eaten as dessert fruit. It can be grown as an ornamental tree due to its glossy evergreen leaves. Fruits are good source of Vitamin-E; helps in effective moisturize the skin.
Aonla also known as Indian Gooseberry. Fruits are good source of vitamin- C (600mg in 100gm edible portion). Trifala and Chavan-parash are well known medicines in Ayurveda prepared from aonla.
